Nelson Brilhante

I have been into computers since I was eight. My first was an Amstrad 1512, where I wrote my first games in BASIC, and I never stopped taking things apart just to understand how they worked inside. That is four decades around technology, more than twenty of them as my profession, from systems and network administration to web development and information security. I am a computer engineer and, at heart, self-taught: I learned most of what I know on my own, from systems and code to 3D, video and music.

I hold a degree in Computer Engineering and a postgraduate specialisation in Cybersecurity and Computer Forensics from the Polytechnic of Leiria, on one of the most demanding programmes in the country, taught in part by officers from the Judicial Police and Europol. I am now developing my master's project: a secure, anonymised blockchain-based voting system.
